Miriam was born in Chase Cottage, Twynhams Hill, Shirrell Heath, Southampton, Hampshire, England on 15th February 1919 and died 19th July 2007, aged 88..

Her parents were Ellen Smith (nee Fry) from Bramshaw in the New Forest and Arthur Smith from London

She had one brother, Arthur, and two sisters, Grace and Margaret

She married William Chinn on 30th September 1941

Arthur Smith in RAF
Arthur Smith, Miriam's brother approximately 1940. He was a Pilot Sargeant in the RAF, flying Hurricanes. He was shot down on 9th September 1941 and his body washed ashore and buried at Criel Sur Mer in France.
